Yesterday, I turned down an unfamiliar street and discovered this forsaken grain mill. After some investigation, I learned that the Southern Milling Company, which had been on this site for 150 years was consumed by a fire on September 26, 2008. The Mill had been listed on Historic Augusta's Endangered Properties list in 2007.

I was hoping you would share more pictures of this old mill . . . and I was rewarded. I would enjoy seeing your images in a larger format.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on QDP. To answer your question: no comparison to the Blizzard of '78. The '78 storm lasted for 3 days and came on top of another sizable storm along with astronomical high tides. The '78 storm was crippling . . . no comparison.
Thanks to Slim, I've increased these photos from miniscule to what you see.
ReplyDeleteInteresting shots and information. I particularly like the first one.
